Gilberto's drawings show his skill capturing the effect of light on the skin and folds of fabric. His art shows exaggerated effects of light and shadow. His subjects are clothed with flowing cloths with lots of folds to hide shadows and reflect light.
Gilberto's acrylic paintings are studies in reflection. Images are reflected and distored in reflective surfaces of copper cookings containers. His work with reflections are very interesting given the struggle of photographers to limit glare and reflection. Instead of avoiding reflection, Gilberto works hard to put the reflections and even glare into his art.
